Engine no. 3 stopped due to lub-oil pressure drop.
02:40 a.m. - Chief Engineer
checks lub-oil level, filters and lub-oil pump. No finding,
report to the superintendent.
07:00 a.m. - Superintendent
contacts NDS for further technical advice. NDS-technician
supposes that the crankpin bearings or main bearings are
worn out. NDS sends a service engineer on board.
10:00 a.m. - NDS' service
engineer finds main bearing no. 4 worn out. All bearings
have to be replaced because of extremely high running
hours.
11:00 a.m. - NDS ships out
spare bearings by special courier to the vessel.
02:00 p.m. - Spare bearings
delivered on board, NDS' service engineer starts repair
job.
03:10 a.m. - Aux. Engine
no. 3 is running, larger damage avoided!
